2020-10 Timpoochee Trail JP (13)-L

The Timpoochee trail is a paved bicycle path that runs 18 miles from Dune Allen to Inlet Beach.  Hop on the complimentary beach cruisers and pick up the pathway just steps away from the property.

Paddleboarding and kayaking are great ways to experience the water in 30A.  Ocean conditions on many days allow for beginner paddle-boarders to cruise the coast.  If something more calm is desired, the dune lakes are a fantastic option.

Point Washington State Forest is located a ten minute drive away, and features more than ten miles of trails for walking, running or biking.  Deer Lake State Park and Grayton Beach State Park also feature trails.

Dune Lakes

The fifteen coastal dune lakes located along 30A are a truly unique natural beauty.  Launch a paddleboard from the Eastern Lake access ramp or beach access, or try Western Lake at the Grayton Beach State Park.  Paddles at dawn are magical!

Popular Golf Courses in the area include the Origins Golf Course, Santa Rosa Golf & Beach Club and Sandestin Golf Club.  Many other courses exist in the area, but please always check ahead of time about access, as some are private clubs.

Fish from the shores for redfish, pompano or ladyfish, take a paddleboard or kayak onto the dune lakes for bass, redfish or even small jacks, take a boat out into the bay or oceanside for larger fish.

Despite the crystal clear water, sometimes there’s not a whole lot to see under the surface.  The exception is the artificial reefs in Walton County.  Turtle Reef at Grayton beach is the closest example, and is 700 ft offshore in a water depth of 20 feet.  For serious divers, Panama City and Destin offer wreck diving trips.

The Timpoochee trail and State Forests and Parks offer fantastic walking and jogging opportunities.  The Thanksgiving Day Races are a great community event!  For those looking for more advanced exercise options, SoWal CrossFit and Momentum Fitness are good options.
